Default Building LS/VTEC.......Should I buy...........

I found a guy selling CTR overbore pistons with rings for $200. The only problem is they are used. Should I just spend the extra money and go with new pistons and rings? He said he just used them to break in the motor and he discovered he had a crack in his block so he is selling them. Any help or opinions would be appreciated.

OK. That makes sense. I just got the milage on them. He only put 4k miles on them. I just want to make sure that used pistons aren't going to hurt my motor in the long run. Thanks again.

Do you mean sand down the pistons or rings? I've never heard of that before.

Used piston is alright as long as there is not much imperfections on your bore. Oherwise machine shop will tell you to go oversize.

As fat as reusing rings, my answer is no. You dont re-use something that has already been "broken-in" and seated in a particular cylinder (previous owner's motor).

IMO, If you down to the point of replacing pistons, cough up 100 bucks or so and get brand new everything.
