Default Blown B16

I bought a 98 civic hatch like two months ago and i was out running to pick some stuff up and the engine blew it was a stock B16a basically i'm just on here looking for guidance to see what would be the best swap for what I wanna do the car has an ls trans if that matters and i want to make it around 200-300 hp and keep it pretty reliable. don't comment anything irrelevant if you have an opinion id be glad to hear it thanks

the b16 was n/a i wanna go turbo though and im in no rush cause i have a second car im able to drive in the mean time and my long term goal was to swap it anyway just looking for some ideas and opinions basically

Alright gimmie just a minute and ill type up my opinions for ya bro. i was in basically the same situation as you except it was my B20 that was blown and i ended up swapping in a B16SIRII. I only did that though because my car is my Daily driver and i NEEDED my car fixed asap.

honestly i dont really have a budget its just gonna be one of those things i find out what are some good ways to go then save for it but i don't really wanna go over 5k unless it would be worth it id save for it like i know pretty basic stuff as far as honda motors go im a k20 fan boy all the way but id wanna find one from a reliable source that wouldn't blow

Basically you got 3 options if your sticking with the B series motors

B16 - with aftermarket springs / retainers. people boost stock b16s for daily driving all the time with no problem 10 psi boost would put you in your hp range of 200-300 for sure. this would probably be the most bang for your buck. you might also want to get ARP rod bolts and better head gasket as the rod bolts have a tendency to stretch at high rpms

B18C - potential to make the most power, more torque, but it would be the more expensive option.

and LSVTEC - potential for alot of power but it is alot of work and has to be done right for it to be reliable

The B18C is definetly the way to go if you can afford it. If not i would go with a B16. Since you already have a B16 you could save your self some money use the motor you got get it rebuilt with better parts and use that.

What would the price be around for the b18c if you don't know off the top of your head no worries ill just look into it but thanks for real man that's actually a lot of help

Umm im not sure in the area you live in. around my area you can get a used one for around 1500. depends on the condition its in. but yeah you would definetly be happy with a B18C / GSR

with the B18C you would be at 1.8L instead of 1.6L

So i looked into the problem and its not a rod knock the threads in cylinder 3 were completely stripped out so it was just a really bad misfire i just bought a new head and im currently looking for a turbo kit, just thought id update you on the whole process as it happens.

Sweet thanks for the update man.
So it was the threads for the spark plug in cylinder 3. i think the threads for the spark plug in cylinder 4 on mine are getting pretty bad.
how is she running now?

at the moment i don't have it on the road i'm waiting for the replacement head to come in and i was just looking around for a turbo kit i think i'm probably gonna go with the one you linked though.
