B20VTEC Swapped and having some problems.
My friend just swapped a B20vtec in his 93 hatchback Dx.
When he drives it about 3500 rpm, the car choaks and the main relay clicks ALOT.
There are no cels either. He has changed plugs, wires, dizzy and the issue remains.
When he turns the key on the ON position the rpm goes haywire. When the car is in
gear with the key in on on position the car jumps like the car is actually on.
( The master cylinder was change, clutch slave cylinder was changed, if that makes a diff )
He does not have an ecu for this motor. This was just to test the car. With a p28 the
car will hold idle, and with a gsr ecu the car will just die.
He only test drove about 50 feet thats all and this was on the p28 ecu.
I know he may need tune, but there are some people i knew with b20v's using
gsr/b16 ecus just to get around before they actually went to get tuned.
if it makes a difference, here is the set up
B20
gsr head, itr cams, skunk2 valvetrain, 3 angle vj
skunk manifold
type r header
type r tranny
action 1ms clutch
fidanza flywheel
rc 310, str fuel rail
edit: he took out the rc310. replaced it with stock injectors, and stock fuel rail.

using different injectors on a stock ECU will def make it idle or drive funny. it will even make it die.
but the RPM thing when you turn the key on and the relay clicking sounds like you have a ground problem, either you dont have enough grounds, or your ground wires are loose. or a wire is chaffed and touching a chassis ground.

this is when hes driving and when its about to DIE the main relay clicks like crazy.

ok well like i said originally it could be a loose or bad ground or chaffed wires. cuz it sounds like an electrical problem because the relay is CLICKING like its searching for a ground. if you get what im sayin.

and the fact the tach jumps to 4k rpm when the car is off just SCREAMS to me electrical problem.
trust me, its not a common fix like "hey replace the #5 fuse, it happens to everyone." if the relay is clicking something is loose because its turning on and off on and off.

Re: (sleeper98civic)
his problem is he is running 310 injectors on a stock ECU....stock ecu thinks the engine has 240 injectors....33% more fuel than is needed...that is why it is running like anus
