Default B20 or B18B

Whats up? I was wondering and asking from people who know which is better. I want to turbo the engine and hit 12s. Its either one of these engines or B18C gsr. I want to put alittle thought into doing one of these swaps if they can give equal if not better performance than the gsr turbo. I would like to use a ITR head and a T3/To4 setup. I hear that the B18B block wont last long because the type r head and its rpms. Is this true? And again which would be a better canidate...the B20 or B18B? Im not tryin to be cheap but save some money ya know. thanks cuz its either this or 3k on a gsr so.

The b18b would be more relaible for sure but less power.

The b20 has thin cylinder walls making it a bad turbo choice, but if you want to get it resleeved with a stronger wall and a good block guard it would give you the HP and TQ advantage...but that’s alot of work

I say turbo a B18B. Great compression for turbo and you'll be into the 12s with some good tuning; maybe some slicks, too.

I think you should go with the B18 as its more reliable and it will be stronger enough to handle the abuse that comes with force induction.
You can get some good JDM B18C engines from http://www.totaljdm.com/?id=63350 and they have no hidden histories to worry about.

I think you should go for the b18 as it will stand up to the abuse that FI engines have to take.
You can get quality B18C engines from http://www.totaljdm.com/?id=63350 and they are covered by warra nties for peace of mind.

Watch out for double posting.

B18C has too much compression for turbo, 10.8:1 (SIR-G) or
11.0:1 (TYPE-R) depending on whether its from an R or not. A B18B, however, with 9.5:1, is a great start for a turbo motor. Just get some Crowers, cam gears and some Wisecos and ready to make some serious power. Advance the exhuast cam about 3 degrees and you'll get more power and faster turbine spool.

I have it in my car and like it a lot. For FI I think with good tuning it can't be that bad.

My b20/vtec is a great swap. Just depends on how you treat it.
