B18c4 swap problem :(
Hey Guy's
New at this forum but not new in the Honda world.
I have swap a b18c4 engine to My 1997 del sol and now i have big problems.
I dont have any idle and the engine's runs and hack on 1500rpm. And i think the engine's goes pretty good otherwise. Maybe not 100% good but it goes to drive.
But here is the strange problem. When i pump the brake i get the idle to 600-700 rpm. And when i take off the vaccum line to the brake servo the cars go up to 1500 rpm in idle and "hack" / goes bad there.
I have try other maps sensor, tps, electric signals.
I did have obd2a in My d16y8 engine and have now a converter from that to obd1 p28 ECU.
I run on the b18c4 Europa loom
What can the problem was

negative on the photos.
what codes are you getting? you need to read them somehow
also you have conversion harness to obd1???
sounds like an OBD problem. obd2 distributor? hmmm
this is always the biggest headache in a swap is obd conversion stuff

It allways light yellow engine lamp. No other.
Yes, i have a obd2a - obd1 converter. I think this engine is obd2 but have obd1 plug style.
Maybe is it the distrubitor if its a obd2?

Re: B18c4 swap problem :(
obd1 and bod2 distributors operate differently.
i believe crank sensor is in dizzy for obd1.
obd2 has no CS it has seperate plug in oil pump.
you can bypass and fix however. this could be your problem.
but definetly check codes. you need to know what the ecu wants

obd2 has a port to hook up obd reader. not sure if it reads obd1 ecu.

Read your codes like so
https://honda-tech.com/honda-civic-d...lists-1901557/
All OBD0/1/2 have the crank position sensor in the distributor. The OBD2 has a sensor called crank fluctuation sensor at the crank but the P28 doesn't look for it and won't throw a code for it.

Re: B18c4 swap problem :(
Who told you a computer programmed to run an engine that makes 125 HP will actually run a 170 HP engine "good" ??? This is complete BS. The OBD-1 and OBD-2 distributors have different plugs, but inside the cap, they are the same. Either with function just fine in your car.
Check your codes as Hero stated above and report back here... then maybe we can help. Also, get a P72 ECU or get your P28 chipped and then mapped for the GSR engine. That will be a much better start.

Re: B18c4 swap problem :(
either ecu will work. i have had several swaps/civic/ecus. it works. it wouldnt be causing your issues nor give you any codes. your issue is an obd issue.
but using the correct ecu or basemap is best for a swap.
