B18C1 swap into a 2000 hatch - what harness to use?
*I searched for this, but did not find anything that addresses the issue*
I recently purchased a 2000 DX hatch with a 2000 GSR motor. There are several details that need to be ironed out before I can start it. One of these issues is which harness to use?
There is currently a harness there, however, several plugs are missing and need to be wired up manually. However, I have a complete 2000 GSR engine harness that came off the motor that is currently in the car.
My question is: should I keep the civic harness that is currently in the car and add the missing wires manually, or is it possible to use the GSR harness which has all of the appropriate connectors that will work with the motor? However, I don't know what if anything else will be affected by changing the harness from civic to GSR one (i.e. any other civic-specific wiring that depends on the harness)?
Could someone please shed some light on the subject?
TIA

the easiest thing would be is to use a 00 si harness....dont think you can use a gsr harness, but not sure...good luck

From speaking with the seller, I think the harness may actually be out of a civic Si. Right off the bat I can see two plugs missing - a green one on the side, and a gray one on top of the intake manifold. Do I hack those off the GSR harness and wire them into the ECU?
BTW, the ECU I am using is a 2000 USDM GSR with the immobilizer removed (if it matters)

if it is a gsr harness you can't use it because it's a 2 piece connector on the side where it plugs into the cabin harness (right before it goes into the firewall) where as your civic is 1 piece. Check your harness if it's 1 piece and it has wiring for knock/vtec then it's prob an si harness, you still have to chop and solder some plugs from the gsr harness as I think some of them are different style otherwise you're all set. If the one you got is a 2 piece/connector harness (gsr) just use the harness on the motor now and add in knock/vtec/iab + swap whatever sensor plugs don't match up and you're good.

and since your in Smog your car hell, when you wire up your secondary o2 sensor, your gonna have to hardwire it straight from the sensory to the ecu. Reason is becuz in si's, the secondary o2 plug is in the dash harness. Do a little searching for "secondary o2 sensor" you'll find a pretty good writeup on how to do it. I used it, and it worked like a charm. Goodluck!

I was just about to post about that - spent an hour last night trying to look for it! Thanks for the tip - I will look it up.
