B18c1 swap with code 23 (knock sensor)
4 months ago did a motor swap from d16z6 Sohc vtec to b18c1 swap. Kept the original harness in the car but just used the motor harness on the b18. I get a check engine light once the car gets to optimum temp. I can shut the car off and start it immediately and the light is off until I drive maybe a 1/4 miles at optimum temp. Ive replaced the iac sensor as the code says iac sensor but doesn't cha.ge anything. BUT when I first did the swap I kept my p28 ecu connected til I could buy the correct one for the motor. When this light came.on is when I bought a p72 and connected is when I get this light all the time. I've tried disconnecting battery and everything it.will not go away. Any suggestions?
Do you have a code reader on hand? Man, that thing is really helpful when you have a CEL on. If you don't, you should invest in one. It's not that expensive.
this may have to do with one of your coolant sensors... ECT..THERM fan.. i had this same problem a few months ago in my b16 coupe and it was the ECT sensor. cheap fix

Sorry I haven't reposted, I'll do the code thing tonight. But yeah I have obd1, and also @ d15 hatch with this problem did it make your car burn more fuel as well with this light on? I understand type r tranny shorter gears and stuff but my god I don't ever get on this thing I drive like a granny actually.to save gas but 200 miles on a full tank?!?!?!?!
The stock harness won't have a provision for a knock sensor, you would have had to run the wire to the ecu. If you didn't run the wire, there's your problem.
