Default GSR Swap Done!!! Throwing Check Engine Light....

Swap is done, and it's amazing... from a stock 95 DX Non-Vtec to this is pretty drastic.

However, it's throwing code 23... now for OBD II, code 23 is the Knock Sensor, any idea if it's the same for OBD I? Also, its not a solid code... when I shut the car off it's gone, and comes back after a while... so it's nothing too serious...

Also, when I had my stock motor, I lowered my car to about a finger above the front wheel... maybe 2" drop or 2 and a 1/4.... now my car sits around the same, but it rubs in the front like CRAZY... it's so bad it rubs the fender well with every tiny bump, and sometimes just moving at all... my tokicos are set to 3 in the front and 3 in the back, i have 350 spring rates in the front and 450 in the rear.... should I turn up the tokicos in the front or just raise the car a 1/4"???

Thanks!

did you raise it after the swap? because the engine does weigh more than the D-series... and the knock sensor i dunno?? replace?

check the knock sensor and the wire going to the ecu to make sure it's not disconnected, frayed, or damaged.

I didn't raise it at all... I guess I'm gonna have to...

as for the knock sensor, I'm just wondering if code 23 is the same for OBD I as OBD II... which is the knock sensor... and if it is, I probably got an extra pin in there or something.... but I want to make sure before I go ripping wiring harnesses like a mad man

I will try... let's just give it the worst case scenario and say all the wiring and sensor looked fine... what could it be then?

well, until that happens I'll get back to you on that. I'm not going to "guess" what will happen. that's what "parts changers" do. real automotive technicans diagnose the problem and fix the initial problem and go from there.

p72... I will check tomorrow and see what the deal is with the knock sensor... if I need a new one, I'll definetly take that off of your hands... thanks I appreciate it...

wow, I gotta say though... holy throttle response... this car takes off with a new motor... if only Honda USA put DOHC 1.8's in all there 92-95 civics...

i'm really not sure when VTEC kicks in... it felt like a 4500-6000 RPM range...

you could get a 14 flat if you got your launches right... they say stock gsr swaps can run 14.8's all day long... i/h/e should be able to kick that down .8

keep me updated!

I'm not sure if all OBD I cars are without a KS but I know if you run p28 and chip it to B18C1 program you will get rid of KS anyways. And bad KS should be killing your power too, pulling the timing and running rich.
