Default B18C1 or K20A2 deal-breaker

Hello everyone, would like your opinions on the following situation.

As of recently, I acquired a new job position that is well paying. I now have the funds for a swap into my 98 civic coupe. Recently, i found a deal for a 99 gsr swapped crx with 70k miles on it for 1200.00!!! Motor is in the crx and running fine. I am extremely torn though. I want a K Swap. I think(key word) that I have enough patients to save for a k swap, and a deal to pop up. I admire gsr motors and how hp can easily be obtained with a nice turbo setup and tune. I definitely would not mind having a gsr swap in my civic!!!!! I would probably love it but I know I will need to invest in one or the other to reach my 350-400 hp goal. I get opinions telling me to wait and save for the k but this is such a sweet deal. I feel like once i'm ready, I will take the B out and put in a K then sell the B or put it in something else.

GIVE me your knowledgeable and deal breaking opinions! Thank you!

EDIT: Honestly, ill probably end up buying this car. Let's go from there. Any clue what will swap over from 88 crx b18c1 swap to a current d16y5 hx coupe?

Everything except the mounts, injectors, dizzy and maybe some other sensors. You can modify the hx harness but it has a 5 wire o2. Also not sure if it has a knock sensor. A ex harness will work for sure but some wires will still be short. Does the crx have a hydro tranny?

The CRX is also a cable transmission so you'll have to find a hydro trans unless you convert to cable, not recommended.

350 can be easily (and safely) obtained from a B18 with some forged pistons and rods, and a properly sized turbo. Like, you can do it for under three grand if you shop around and spend smart money. Absolutely no reason to K swap for your power goals.

^^agree. if your main goal in the build is to reach 350-400 whp, definitely go B-series. I am putting together a K20A2 right now and i'm about $2800 deep. I still need mounts($500) and conversion harness($300). Build your B-series. Then while you are enjoying the finished product, start hoarding parts for the K-series lol. good luck

a stock b will hold 300-400whp. a stock k will do 600-700whp.

how much do you ultimately want to make and spend?

Good points guys. I will buy the b18c1 on the 15th. and post pics if interested. I'll find some write ups on swaps to ek chassis. In the end, I guess my true power goals will come down to me being satisfied with the power and enjoyability I will get from my build. I will definitely have a k swap one day though. Something about six speed transmissions and having an expensive, clean, not as common swap in my car draws me. Just worried about thieves.

Thanks for the opinions! Looking for a direct link to a parts list for gsr swap to ek chassis. Any help?

Are you using hybrid racing mostly? I'll probably buy their full k swap dvd (already printed in color and laminated their k swap paper guide lol) to help me understand what ill need without having to buy EVERYTHING from them... How long have you been building your k? Are you mechanically sound?
