b18a1 into 93 civic cx with b16a swap
hey guys i have a 93 hatch with a b16a obd1 swap with b16 hydro tranny,i am looking to get a b18 to build on the side for boost and have found a good deal on a 91 b18a1 but im pretty sure it is obd0.my question is what if anything would i be missing to drop the b18a1 into my car once it is ready?and will the obdo thing be a pain in the **** to wire up?is it worth it for the trouble or should i find an obd1 b18?thanks for any info guys

the problem you will run into with the obd0 and obd1 is pretty much just plugs and ecu i dont think theres much difference as far and parts not fitting. just do an ls vtec with the b16a head you got.

yeah definetly your best choice. since the b16 head will give you good compression for boost and with the ls vtec kit from golden eagle it makes it alot easier than you think. so its either convert that b18 to obd1 which shouldnt be that hard or drop that b16a head on the b18 block. not bad choices

ok, number 1 rule of OBD-0 is never go OBD0 in an OBD1 vehicle.
It's just a dumb idea to do this because its older technology, which OBD1 reigns over. And btw, you can't power an OBD0 engine with an OBD1 ecu because of mechanical differences in the distributor and programming in the ecu.
All you gotta do is transfer a number of parts from your B16 engine over to the B18A engine. You will need to source a 92-95 LS distributor though so it will plug n play to your 93 civic engine wiring.
These parts include:
- Alternator
- injectors
- engine wire harness
- throttlebody
- 02 sensor
- possibly the exhaust manifold
- LS OBD1 dizzy

Re: (Katman)
hmm . .. coulda swore that parts list wasnt there this morning, although it was 5 30 in the morning b4 my coffee lol.right now i have an obd1 ecu (not sure which one i have to look)that is chipped by xenocron for my turbo setup,do you think i could just have him burn me a new map instead of buying a new ecu?so basically i have all the stuff i need minus the ls distributor,so since im gonna have to take stuff off of my b16a anyway i might as well go ls/vtec for all that trouble...ahhh decisions
