b18 swap
I first purchased teh car awhile back because i got bored with the teggy. So anyways the original motor ended up losing compression in cylinder 4 due to a bad piston ring, it was spraying oil in the cylinder and coating my spark plug, after runnign a compression check it showed it at 90 when i first got her, she was at 210 ont hat particular cylinder.
Well after running around and figuring out what i wanted to do , i foudn a swawp that was perfect for my car which is a 1997 civic hb dx, so i purchased the motor, its the same motor that i have previously in the car. So anyways it was in three pieces though, block with bottem end intact , head which i dissasembled myself but the only thing we did was unbolt it from the block, the rockers, valves, valvesprings were left intact i never uninstalled them i just took cams off to reach the bolts to unbolt from block and tranny.
So after reassembling the motor with new timing belt and hg, and oil pan gasket, we did the swap, and wired her all up, redid the fluids,
NEW oil filter
NEW oil 10w30 castro syntec
NEW spark plugs
NEW tranny oil
Checked all wireing/grounds and then started her up, at first she wouldnt start, she would attempt to crank but couldnt hold it, so i foudn it was a timing issue. So we fixed that now the car starts, but it sounds a bit weird like it has the SRT4 gurgle at idle, with backfirign etc. There are three grounds one from car to tranny, the 2nd one is on the thermastat from the engine harness, and the last is the oen from vavle cover to the front of car. So i swapped out throttlebodys with my old one from my old motor and nwo she sets better but when you give it a lil gas the throttle would get stuck and the car would rev towards 2500, and stay there.
Now prior to all this the car was throwing a CEL code. I jumped the harness and found out two thigns.
code 6 and 16, i already fixed 6 forgot to plug in the sensor, and then 16 says its the fuel injector i took off the aftermarket fuel rail and put the stock fuel rail and injectors still teh same issue.
Anyone got any ideas?
