Default b17 speed sensor problem and ecu question

My friend recently picked up a 93 CX with a b17 swap and y1 tranny converted to hydro. We were driving down the highway wot 3rd gear hear a pop sound and lose the speedo. Come to a stop everything is running fine so we get back on the highway and start driving home. Speedo is dead and no vtec. We figured he blew the speed sensor and since the comp is not reading speed we are not getting vtec. Opinions? If this is the case is the sensor interchangable with other b series? Anyone have any idea how much a speed sensor would go for?
Side note, can someone verify that P63 IS a g2 gsr ecu? Whats the stock vtec engagement point? Thanks.

Default Re: b17 speed sensor problem and ecu question (MrSmith)

I think the ecu should be P61, not sure of vtec engagement point?. With code 17 (you should have this with no speedo) you wont be able to get vtec. Im having the same problem with a cable speedo so I know there tons of info under search. Theres posts about the 92 and later electronic d series sensors being compatible with b-series.

hth,
