you need to buy the correct motor for your car
you will spend just as much getting the first gen motor to work in your car.
the 650+ alone for the cable to hydro conversion makes up the diffrence for a second gen.

He is right though, tell your friend to sell the 1st gen and put the money towards an A2. It will be A LOT less hassle.
This is my opinion so please don't call me an *** too, it lowers my self image.

not sure if this would work for a 98, but here goes.

step #1: sell cable tranny
step #2: buy b-series hydro tranny
step #3: buy chipped ecu
step #4: buy obd2 distributor
step #5: by 99-00 si shift linkage
step #6: install

btw, i just got this from searching, but i woundnt put an older engine in the car.

Does he have the first gen motor and tranny? Did it come out from an integra XSI? This is what you should do if the answers are yes.

GET.
99-00 Si dist.
99-00 Si shift linkage
99-00 Si rear mount bracket
99-00 Si engine mount bracket...bolts on the the block under the timing belt.
Cable to Hydro tranny conver. mount from place racing, hasport, HCP.
OBD2 to OBD1 ecu jumper harness with chipped P28 ecu. Since you wont have all of the obd 2 sensors on the 1st gen motor.

sell cable tranny for hydor b series tranny
get obd1/obd2 injectors depends on which you want to go
get obd1/obd2 distributors
(only if you want to go obd2) obd2 gsr or b16 oil pump crank angle sensor
Ek b series mounts
99-00 shiftlinkage
95+ hydro b series axles and midshaft
hydro B series clutch
obd1/obd2 ecu

id also get rid of that b16a1 Intake manifold and throttle body.

i figure you can sell/trade some of the stuff you need. i know Cable B16a trannys are in demand. and they sell for as much if not more than hydro b series trannys.
good luck on your swap
