Default B16A and B18C mpg in a hatch

I just bought a 93 hatch and want to drop a B18C in but I need really good gas milage due to driving to school and work. I was wondering what the mpg would be be? If its not that great then I will have to sacerfice the power and just go with the B16A, but I would rather not.

Go B18C1, you'll have to push it less than the B16 to propel the car. I think you'd get a pretty good gas mileage overall w/ a 1.8

I can scavenge you another 5-10 mpg.... it's my trade secret:

You see the horizontal pedal on the right part of the floor board ? Lift your foot off there every now and then...

I get 23-25mpg in the city with A/C. 25-27 without AC.
B18c1 with 185whp and 136 torque.

The old 1.5DX with 70 stomping WHP goes 25-26mpg. I had to go WOT all the time just to keep up with traffic. It gets 32mpg in the highway though

Either engine will get good mileage. Although I can't tell you what you would get with a B18C, both my B16A and B20Z get around 33MPG highway and 26MPG city. The B18C should be somewhat similar. Just keep in mind that both of these motors are using full 1992+ electronics. If you are a 1988-1991 swapper and stick with pre-1992 electronics, you will not do as well. It seems like the 1G B16As get around 27-28 highway.
