what year/model civic do you have? if you have a VX, there will be a wire at D3 already and just need to put the D3 wire to the knock sensor.
To take out pins, you use a very small screw driver and they slide right out.

im really asking this question in general...not model specific...i dont understand what to do when doing wiring changes what to do with the wires that are already in the locations i need to add wires to....im about to do a b18c5 into a 94 ls and when i went to add the vtec and knock wires there are already wires in those pinouts....should i take those wires out or leave them....if the wire already exists...how do i do it....like you sdaid...there is already a d3 wire on the vx so how do i hook up the knock sensor....sorry for this question...im just a little slow....

well it depends on the ECU, what obd type deal. You need to assign pinouts to different sensors and such according to what the ECU looks for.
For instance, on the VX with the factory ECU and factory motor, the D3 pinout, the factory ECU uses that specific pinout for one of the Heated O2 sensor (5 wire O2 sensor).
When using for instance, a B16 P30 ECU, the P30 ECU uses D3 for the knock sensor. So you have to change the wire and lead it to the knock sensor so the ECU knows it's there.
As for VTEC, if the wires are there, then you just lead them to the associated pinout so it's a complete circuit to that specific sensor to that specific pinout.
Like VTEC solenoid to the A4 pinout and such.
Make sense?
