Default Advice

Hey all.

I currently own a 2001 celica GT, the car has received pretty much everything there is available for it other than boost, due to a higher insurance rate and a few other factors as well I have decided to sell the car and get a civic hatch.
Currently I am looking at EK's. Now my questions are:
What are the basic things I should look for when grabbing a used EK/EG
In regards to a future motor swap does the high # of km's take affect on anything else. (If the chasis is in good shape)

I have done a search and read the FAQ's posted above in regards to the swaps.

The B series swaps seem less of a headache than the H series swap.
I'm not thinking of going too crazy with the car so my choices are the b16a2 and the b18c1.

The list of things needed to complete this successfuly from what I have gathered follows.
Motor
ECU
Tranny
Axles- which ones are required for going b18c in an ek as well as going b16a in an ek
Harness- the modified stock ek one?
Is shift linkage required? As well as the cables and what not.
And mounts.
Also if I decide to get a mounting kit such as HA, does it eliminate much hassle?

Thanks in advance.

If you plan to do a swap right away...Look for a shell...Might be hard to find though...If not...Check that engine, cause when I bought my EG it had some **** wrong with it and after I had fixed the problems, one thing broke and I was forced to get a new engine...No regrets though...

I've seen motors swapped into chassis with 300,000 miles with no problems.
As long as the body is in good shape and the chassis is not damaged from a previous wreck or something, you should be alright.

Any '94-up B series axles and intermediate shaft will work for either swap.

Yep, you should put your stock civic harness on the B series motor and add the necessary wires.

B series swaps use Rod shift linkage, H series swaps use cable shift linkage.
You need any '94-up B series shift linkage.

For mounts you need :
-Upper tranny mount-reuse your stock civic piece.
-rear tranny bracket (piece between the rear rubber mount and the tranny)-from a '99-'00 SI
-Upper driver side mounting bracket(goes between the mount bolted to the block and the fluid filled mount on the chassis)-from a '99-'00 SI.
-lower tranny mount and ac mount- from any '94-up B series.

Getting a mount kit will get you urethane mounts, but you will still need to get the rear tranny bracket and driver side mounting bracket from the SI. So it doesnt really eliminate any hassle. You just get sturdier mounts.
