Default 96ek-hcp-h22 running p28 ecu (best program??? - opinions)

since i didn't get an ecu with my swap i got a p28, and i'm wondering what is the best program to use for my application.

(here are my bolt ons for now)

my motor is a 93jdm h22a (10.6 compression ratio) fully rebuilt (0k miles)
LSD tranny (h22a)
obd2- obd1 harness converter
obd1- p28 ecu (canadian version)
MUGEN HEADER (h22a)with MUgen Downpipe (2.5 collector)
MUGEN Twin loop (h22a)muffler
(building 2.5 mandrell exaust - stainless)
AEM shortram intake with K&N filter (upgrading to Blitz SUS filter soon)

MUGEN DOHC ??
SPOON DOHC ??
SKUNK2 DOHC ??

is there a good program tested and working fine?

I honestly like the skunk2 program..followed by the Mugen, but its all up to you, if you are gonna get it tuned with a VAFC it really doesnt matter because the air/fuel curve will most probably be altered

arno<~~~~~stands to be corrected

i would ditch the p28, fuel maps are not good for it even chipped, p72 would be better, i can get you the p13 right now i have 2 of them one american and one jdm and i can chip them for you if you like or i can chip the p28 over night if you like about a 3 day turn around. I have tried them all and i run the p13 with the spoon program , or the mugen program, i can socket the ecu and you can put whatever chip you want in it, evern stock to try. the p28 lacked the bottom end in a bad way!!

My friend had a h22 vx with a chipped p28. It had a spoon chip. On the dyno, the car made 7hp more with a muegen chip. Either way you'll need a vafc because the fuel is way too rich in the low end and itll spoil your idle and fuel economy.

thanx !!

i picked up both the header and exaust for about 650$ us (1050 canadian) so i was impressed...

dyno's on MUGEN products show large gains!! so i didn't say no...

p72's are rare in canada and expensive..., I don't have a APEXI, they also run quite high.... kinda overpriced just to modify a map sensor ahhahaahah...

I'd like a Good P13 if had a good program to go with it...

I know a guy that can give me two chips (any one) , and the DIY kit for about 39US shipped...

so i was planning on that route.... but i could go p13 if i had a good price...

don't forget in canada everything is doubled... so it sucks...

let me know ... hopefully i'll have good hp at the wheels...

Regular P28 programs (like Spoon, Mugen, Skunk2, JUN, etc) are all designed for B-series motors. They all suck on the H22 because there's no low end power or torque.

What does work, is a P28 with H22 Type S fuel mapping... we did that onto a Hondata with a P28... drove nice & smooth with lots of torque.

Newman

you could copy the h22a type-s fuel maps onto a chip for me for my p28???

i'm not used to hondata... is that a piggy back or something ????

to get what you mentioned how much would that cost...

tell me my best options you know my mods... tell me how i can get it and where and how much

thanx !!

If we can do it, we would have already and it'd be in my car. But we're working something out so that we can get a chip somehow... otherwise, you can spend $200 on a Stage 2 Hondata, and $100 on a P28 (about the same total price of what you'd pay for a Spoon chipped P13 ECU) and use any Hondata chips at any time. But for a regular chip to go into a P28, we're working on it.

so i take it ... hondata is a piggy back system that modifies the fuel curves and timing and you add that chip to your stock p-28 system ???

if i can't do Hondata... what would be your best idea for a chip..

I dont mind lossing low-end power .. i'm for top end anyways...

my car is currently a 1.6 automatic EK.... all i'm missing is the chip program and rod bearings (back-order from honda).....

motors in peices now fully rebuilt...

eh ....

yeah so which program... running rich doesn't matter... head is ported and polished... combustion chamber is fully polished so smooth i can queeze a zit out... wetsanded 1600 GRit... and polishing compound.. stock valves also polished with ENdyn piston mod on h22a 10.6 compression pistons...

no sharp edges in combustion chamber... h22a head is ported like endyn review .. beats spending 800$ on a port job... just took 40 hours of precision time.. i'll have pics soon.. air tools, many bits and hand polished .. gotta love owning a shop.. cc's the chambers at 54.05cc's each.....

Please if i can't find a chip i'll run with stock p-28 for now..... shouldn't be too lean... if so i'll up the FPR until i'm done my break-in then get soemthing....

let me know..

39US for 2 chips and DYI kit .. is that a good deal ?

oh i allready have the p-28 (obd1) ecu... and made a obd2-obd1 jumper by destroying a 96 p30 ecu (delsol vtec) and having tails from a 95SI (i'm in canada) ..

on question though.. how do you reset the CEL light to do timing on the skunk2 jumper... from what a figure is that there is a ground wire and signal..and when you ground that signal wire the computer goes in limp mode is this correct ?????

(this would help)
