91 CRX looking for a new motor
I've been pondering the idea of doing a motor swap for a couple months now, but i can't decide which motor i want to get. I want a fairly simple swap requiring the least amount of hassle to get it up and running. I've been told the LS swap is pretty straight forward but i do still wanna get the strongest possible motor with the least amount of problems. I'm just here looking for suggestions to see what i can possibly do.
The vehicle i have is a 1991 CRX Si
and the ultimate goal is to just get it above average for the most part with middle priced performace parts.
Thanks

Re: 91 CRX looking for a new motor (AsianInvasionKP)
SIR 1 B16A swap is pretty much a do able thing on a budget these days and has top end not like an LS swap obviously...and from my experience those SIR 1s have been some solid running engines for years...
$1500 shipped is the current price I believe for Engine/Trans/ECU $300 more will get you a LSD equipped trans...which is worth it...
90-93 Acura Integra axles and midshaft is what you use and if really cheap on budget some good junkyard axles will do the trick for the time being...$100
A obd0 Vtec jumper harness from Rywire will do the trick as well $175
A good B16 EF motor mount kit can be had for around $200
Also a good clutch kit and resurface flywheel at the least would be a good idea...
On the average person you can start the project on Friday afternoon and have the swap done by Sunday night...
The B16A parts for the EF are plentiful as well and cheap such as motor mount kits etc...
A customer with a budget had a CRX we built for him just a simple SIR1 B16A motor and was a really healthy engine with simple ebay header/intake/exhaust street tires runs 14.6 in the 1/4 mile...

Re: 91 CRX looking for a new motor (ESP-net)
I'm with ESP-net; SiR1 engines are cheap and effective. My friend run 14.55@95.1 with a SiR b16a w/o LSD The mods where almost nothing; 2.25 exhaust and muffler, no-cat, ebay CAI and ebay "skunk2 chip". No header, full interior 91 SI CRX w/ A/C. I was very surprised with the results.
