90 Ingegra (B18A) swap into EG (automatic!!!!) questions
has anyone done this swap before? I bought one from the junkyard FAIRLY cheap and I wanna swap it into my 93 civic dx (automatic as well). Now, I need to know what I have to do to complete teh swap (considering auto trannies are all same in all years isn't it?). What mounts would I need? I was thinking about using 0bd1 integra ecu (automatic) and everything else off that b18a (is that okay?). All helps are welcome..thanks in advance.

There's not too many people that you will find that swap in an auto B series. Usually they change to manual at the time of the swap. I know you will need a 94-01 Integra driver side mount bracket and mount to get the motor to bolt in so that's not an issue. The issue will be the upper tranny mount since it will no doubt require you to custom fab one. The 90-93 auto tranny mount have mounting holes for the lower front tranny mount. and then the rear bracket I'm not sure which one to use either. It would be best to use all OBD1 electronics on the motor then of course use a 92-95 OBD1 LS Auto ECU.

No I never said that I was sure. If you were using a 94+ B auto tranny then you stock upper mount would work but the issue is that you'll be using a 90-93 tranny. I don't think there is a stock mount or even a company that make an aftermarket mount for that application.

Re: 90 Ingegra (VTECVillain)
but if i'm not mistaken...auto tranny use the same mount for hondas regardless of what series. so 90~93 integra mount would be same as 94+ right?

Re: 90 Ingegra (JustJeff)
nope. i'm sure it'll be close though (upper tranny mount made for the tranny) and that i'd just make a new bracket for the frame for it to bolt to. who knows maybe you'll be lucky and only have to shim it up or down. if it's a little shy forward or back you could ream the holes a bit. you could probably get away with just this top mount if you use a insert. for the rear bracket i would bet money on the year chassis rear bracket (94 up integra). i just looked but didn't try it but looks like it will work fine. if the 90-93 auto tranny uses a tranny control module then you will have to wire that in the car (about 30 wires). i can get you diagrams which you won't find anywhere trust me...nor will you find anyone who knows jack to help you at all.

Nope, the mounting locations are different. We carry the HCP EG-AT mount (for putting a hydro tranny into an auto EG/DC chassis), and we've also had a few of the "special order" HCP EG-ATC" mount, which allows you to put a cable transmission into the auto EG/DC chassis - just sold one a couple of weeks ago to a guy who picked up a 94 Civic auto, and put in a 1st gen B16A. Of course that's the the best way to do it but it certainly works, and then just set it up to run with a a hydro-cable conversion setup and put the slave cylinder underneath the cable transmission release arm and run like that.

Re: 90 Ingegra (JustJeff)
auto swaps are not fun
I will not do another one.
I, too, have the custom wiring diagrams for the TCM if you need them. Compliments of not-so-civic and a couple helm manuals.
We sold the 91 XSi Auto tranny because making it fit in an EG looked like a lot of work. We got a 96 LS tranny, and even that was a bitch.
This is what we ended up with:
chassis: 93 EX coupe (auto)
engine: first gen B16a, everything converted to OBD1
tranny: 96 LS auto, with the TCM from a 94 teg controlling it. (the TCM was $40 from not-so-civic)
Word of advice: I have a B.S. in Electrical Engineering, and I found the swap very difficult. Plan on a couple months of downtime for the car unless you don't work full time or go to school.
