Default 9:1 compression ratio ?

I am planning on doing a GSR swap into my civic with future plans to turbo it. I want to know if it is OK to build the bottom end now, sleeved with a 9:1 compression, without running the turbo kit ? Would I need to get it tuned or would a regular ECU be able to run it right ? And would it still be suitable to drive as this is my daily driver ? Any info or insigt would be great !!!
