2000 Civic Ex B16A2 Swap
alright so I'm going to be doing a B16A2 swap on my 2000 Civic coupe here in a little over a week.. my buddy has agreed to sell me his full swap and anything I need of his EM1 for this swap..
I know for a fact about some of the big more common questions. I'm using the Si Ecu, Si engine harness, motor and trans.. now it's the other nitty gritty stuff I'm still not sure about.
fuel lines
vacuum lines
cruise control module
shift linkage
evap lines
return lines
stopper mounts
radiator
compressor
you get the picture.. obviously I have ALL of this off of the EM1 at my disposal and ready for use but I don't want to so pointless work that's not needed if what's already on the car will work fine.. I also wanna make sure that there isn't ANYTHING at all that won't fit in this car.. I truly do not see why any of this wouldn't be a straight drop in but I want this swap done right and don't wanna be caught by surprise by something. any and all input would be HUGELY appreciated. thanks

Re: 2000 Civic Ex B16A2 Swap
Same radiator, probably different hoses... if you have the full b16a2 change over with all the mounts, a/c compressor brackets, and whatnot it should be pretty straight forward. You can utilize most of your stock engine mounts, harness, and some other tidbits.
Reference FF-Squad's swap articles for your help, also a Helms manual (can be downloaded - just not here... google it), and some good research will go a long way.
Common issues I've ran into while doing a swap:
Ball joints not wanting to pop/spinning upon re-install
Pesky Bitch Pin on Shift Linkage not wanting to budge
Axle nuts being a pain to remove (impact gun my friend... use it)
Vacuum line locations (again... helms manual for help)
otherwise everything is straight forward... I've done many swaps with just hand tools but air tools, access to a lift, or an engine hoist will make your life much easier. Ensure you have the right ECU... also look into doing the timing belt, waterpump, general maintenance, and maybe even replace the clutch while the engine is already out.

Re: 2000 Civic Ex B16A2 Swap
The rad is actually different, grab the EM1 rad if you can, it's got larger water necks, otherwise use adjustable gear style hose clamps to squeeze the larger hose.
Also, grab the throttle cable if you can, it'll save you from having to fab up a bracket to use the Y8 cable.

Re: 2000 Civic Ex B16A2 Swap
Did the same swap on my hatch. Everything transfers over. You will need to take your old secondary o2 sensor wiring from the ex and graft it to the si harness, as the secondary o2 sensor line is in the si's chassis harness. All this assuming an Ex harness is similar to a Dx one. GL with the swap.

thanks for the input from all you guys.. I really appreciate it. I'll look up that helms manual before I start on this thing. I'll have the radiator from the em1, I'll use the em1 throttle cable etc, em1 ecu, Etc..

there is one thing I learned that I didn't find anywhere were the two anti-roll mounts didn't quite fit right from the Si onto the Ex chassis. the mounts I'm referring to are the ones attached to the A/C compressor bracket and the transmission bracket. they both are two pieces, one part that bolts to the A/C bracket and the transmission bracket and the part that rests up on the underside of the support. The piece that actually rests in the support needs to be off an Ex. it's hard to explain without pictures but the Si and Ex anti roll mounts are slightly different. if anyone needs more information on this I can try and get pictures of what I'm talking about.

-Trans
- Ecu (si)
-Axels (si)
-Front lower mounts with the ex bushings
-Rear L bracket (si)
-Si radiator and hoses (ports on the radiator and the hoses are bigger)
-if you want A/C you'll need to use the si compressor and A/C lines. the compressor pully is bigger than the Ex.
-throttle cable (si)
- Shift linkage (si)
I believe there's one other thing that we didn't know about... I'll have to get back to you but overall that's what you'll need.
