Default 1st gen b16 into EK (yes i searched, Please Read!)

Hello HT guys & girls!

Already have a 1st gen b16 in my ef (ed) hatch. I wanna be able to keep modding this motor w/out pissing the money down the hole so....

If I already have the complete swap in my '91, would it be a complete waste of time, money, effort, etc. to try & swap this over to a '96-00 hatch eventually??

I will most likely be upgrading the trans at the time anyway, so that's no biggie...I am assuming axles and other things will need to go also.

Bottom Line: Anybody done it already? 1st hand experience 0wnz U! If not, any info that would support or shoot down my dream would be appreciated.

Thanks 4 all of your time!

yea, it's been done, as long as your state doesn't do emissions/carb's. hat exact info did you want? like parts to buy, etc? or just overall experience?

Can't you convert the emisions system over from a B16A2 to an A1?

things you need to do to get the 1st gen into your ek.

1. get obd2 dohc distributor+injectors
2. get obd2 hodc crank sensor at the pulley
3. get SI rear tranny bracket
4. use EK side mounts...SI lower tranny mount...Del Sol Vtec AC bracket if you're going to retain the AC system.
5. Depends on what year your ek is...engine harness have to be modified.
6. Of course you need Hydro tranny....basically..you are converting it to OBD2

good luck

Thanx 4 the info all!

Basically, my next car will be a 6th gen hatch, I'm just making sure it is feasible and non-ridiculous to swap in the older motor so I can start in on this motor w/cams/headwork/block etc. You know the drill. Just assuring myself I can move the motor over without too much hassle.

Looks like it is certainly a doable task. I take it it's pretty much necessary/required to convert to OBD2?? I've heard the older OBD motors respond better because less is being monitored or something?? Dunno. What are the disadvantages of converting to OBD2?? Is there any (reasonable) way to not hafta upgrade?

Just fact finding here and the search wasn't my friend.

TIA

Best info up here so far...thats pretty much it. Deciding what OBD to go with will be your main problem.
