1993 H22A Civic won't pass emissions. Need advice!
My civic has a p13 ecu and I have all the egr equipment from the prelude. The vacuum lines running through the egr system are all correct. I noticed the the egr equipment from the prelude has a place for a plug. Do you have to have a plug in that spot for the system to work corectly? And if so have do I make a plug for it? Anyways, My car passed everything but HC(ppm) at idle! My car put out 322ppm and it must be under 220ppm. My idle is at 710rpm, which is very low! And I was running 89 octane fuel. If I raise my idle to 950rpm and and run 93 octane fuel would I pass? everything else passed easily!
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Rob

there is nothing I can find when searching to help me with this problem! The emissions peices that I got from the prelude are egr purge soleniod and the egr vacuum control valve.

Your EGR is for Nox not HC's
Might be an O2 sensor but first....
For HC's I would run the idle at the limit if your spec is 750 + or - 50 I would set it to 800. I would run 87 because it ignites easier. If you havent yet, run some injector cleaner thru it and new plugs with the correct gap(Don't rely or the pre-gap)If you haven't changed the cap and rotor do this too. While you are at it check your timing also.
All it takes is a little misfire and you will get higher HC's
Some things to try for you.

Deja vue..........I went through this with my h22 civic here in WA as well...After failing about 5 times and doing everything possilble to pass , I finally through in the towel trying to get my jdm h22 to meet a 1.5L requirement. Do yourself the favor and find somone you know that lives in thurston county or pierce county. Not all ciites nor counties require emmissions.........or just move if you get my drift
