12 second civic thread
I'd like more opinions on this question. Maybe I should've asked in this forum.

2000 lbs, SOHC VTEC with 75 shot on slicks. 12.99 with ease.
I'll have the timeslip next spring.
I've only got $850 in motor AND ZEX NOS kit.

Not mine, but we are running same times. They quoted my times till they got theirs running right. Seems the without the test pipe they could only muster 13.8s.....
But then they threw in the cam to say they are faster. Just wait, I'll be in the twelves next year. THEN maybe they will take a picture of my car.
BTW they use Dave's Honda Haven as their dyno. Same place I had my 1.5L dynoed 2 years ago. Also where I got to see the dyno files from their testing and Daves opinion on the kit.

Re: 12 second civic thread (Mista Bone)
That's a company owned car. I tuned my car on Comp Cam's <ZEX's parent company> dyno right beside tat car and the NEW GSR engine they were about to drop in it. It's a pretty decent car.
My roommate has a 75 shot wet kit on a CX hatch with a SOHC VTEC plus I/H/E<about 2100 lbs. with driver> and on sticky tires, we're hoping for some 12's. I think it COULD do it. We'll see next spring I guess!
BTW, Dave's Honda Haven SUCKS ***! Too expensive, and Dave doesn't know **** about modded hondas. He's a wrench and that's all.

Re: 12 second civic thread (bodykit=rice)
bodykit=rice: nitrous is shady because some people love it, some hate it. some say it can give these numbers, other say is gonna kill you or your engine. therefore its hard to make a good real opinion without trying it yourself

Re: 12 second civic thread (On Point)
It was a yellow 88 crx with a wings west kit on it...It was in turbo magzine a few times... It was fast but now it should be faster...The car was retired for like a year and a half cause he got lazy...But he just redid the motor.. He installed rods, pistons, retainers, and springs... Now he is gonna put in a 200 shot to see where he gets at... The guy is a nitrous freak.. And he knows his ****... His daily driver crx runs 12.30's all day with a 100 shot.. with stock internals and a header, intake with the full interior......

Funny, mine already runs 13.5's, 2450 lbs with driver.
12's will be easy.

not calling you out specifically but that stuck in my head.

Re: 12 second civic thread (Cyrio)
How about this setup? JDM B20 motor w/DRAG 3 kit, boosting 12 lbs. Very easily 12 sec times... probably 11 sec times with slicks (traction) and good driving
Oh yeah... that's in a 1821 lbs EG hatchback

Re: 12 second civic thread (martini)
I don't see slicks on the rear. I see treaded 8 ply skinnys on 15x3" wheels.
Ever seen skinnys on the front of a fast RWD car? Same thing applys to FWD. Just put the skinnys on the rear. I run 155/80/13's on the back on my car at 55-60 psi.
13.5's the easy/cheap way.
Only problem I have is doing a good burnout. When the slicks start getting hot (2nd gear burnout) they will drag the *** end all the way to the staging lights.

Re: 12 second civic thread (On Point)
This is with the car at 2400 lbs with driver. Drop the weight, upgrade the fuel pump (lean on 75 shot) so I can run 85 shot, and hang on!
I might need to go to a taller 22" slick from my 20" current setup.
I would like to go 22x8x13 slicks to launch better. the 20x8x14 don't have a chance even at 12 psi.

Re: 12 second civic thread (Cyrio)
theres a reason why a lot of people consider nitrous cheating... cuz its so damn effective! 12 seconds is all too possible with some work... considering you get 13.5's with a 1.5L civic with very simple work. Strip the car, slap on nitrous, and slap on slicks and you should be well into the 13s. That would be how I'd do it, since my need for speed has been taken care of already and now I can control it to the weekends.

Re: 12 second civic thread (csufweed)
The people who consider it cheating are the ones with $3500 motor swaps that can't keep up with a $500 modded SOHC motor.
Also NOS helps Hondas in their major lacking department, TORQUE!
190 hp and 190 ft/lbs of torque all from a 1.6L SOHC VTEC motor.
