Default wheel width/offset question...

wdup guys,
im new to this part of town. But i recently picked up a 00s2k
anywho, i have a set of wheels in 16x7/+43 offset all around. Obveously their meant for a fwd car, but my question is; will this offset/width be ok to run on an s2k? Can i stagger them a little by mounting wider tires in the rear?
TIA...

Don't sell yourself short on wheels.

Wait for the right set. If you don't have the money when you find that right set, just be patient, save up some more and take care of business.

The thing is, i currently have these wheels sitting in my storage. Their from an old car i had. Id hate to sell them cheap when i could possibly use them...

I know, but the fact of the matter is, you are ill served trying to "use" them on the S2000. Why would you do that to a car like the S2K?

Ok, first off...what is the bolt pattern of these wheels? That has to match up. The bolt pattern for the S is 5 bolts spaced 114mm apart. The typical offsets seen on the 2000 models for a 7 inch rim is 38-40. I think a 43 might fit but it is going to set closer inside the wheel well of the car than a 40 offset. Your main problem will be the stagger. I ran a set of 7.5's all the way around on my 00 model and it didn't really effect my day to day driving, but i could not track the car that way and expect the same performance as a staggered size. I would just wait as others have stated and run a 7 inch setup up front and an 8 inch setup in the rear. That's going to give you a better performing car overall.

If you really want to know...jack the car up and remove a front and rear rim. Try putting your current rims on and see if they fit. Check for hub size, brake clearance, wheel well clearance etc. It may work, but won't be the ideal setup for the S2000. Hope that helps.

+43 offset on a 7inch rim in the rear will fit... .. this setup will hinder handling greatly...

and the bolt patern for the S.. is 5/114.3

they are a 5x114 bolt pattern (meant for the itr)
as far as test fitting, i did so today...they seemed to clear just fine so ive come to the conclusion that this wont be my problem.

I do agree with your performance statement, so im planning on selling these and finding a set with a rwd offset/width.

thanks for your 0.2 cents

don't run the rims...you have to stagger them

don't try to cheap out and use different width tires, or spacers or anything else you can think of...

do it right the 1st time

You will find out why you want to run stagger when it rains.
