Sound System
The '02-up S2k comes stock with 1 pair of separates in the doors, it is very easy to tap into the unused rear channel in the stock radio and add rear speakers. I consider the stereo "adequate" only after the addition of rear speakers.
As I've grown older my tastes have toned down however and I hear what I call "adequate" many of my younger breathren call sorely lacking.
You don't buy an S2k for the music the stereo puts out, it's the Banshee wail of the F20C that is the real melody

'02's and up technically have 4 speakers (2 mid/full range, 2 tweeters, in the doors). Before that there were only 2 speakers, in the doors. I would say the stock radio probably puts out 15-20 watts per channel but that's just a guess.
I've taken the airbox cover off mine now that it's cool outside and I'd say that it's probably somewhat louder than my cousin's R w/ a CAI (from what I remember, been a while) Both with stock resonance equipment in place it's probably a tossup

i know questions like this arne't suppose to be posted but, is ur S2k faster than his R? cuz i have seen videos where they run almost heads up or the S has a car on it but from what i understand they say it runs 14.1 but some places say 14.8. would that be the reason why they run heads up in some cases?
By the numbers an S is faster, but the S2k is not a car that derives it's bragging rights on the drag strip by ANY STRETCH. I never had the opportunity to race him side by side so I couldn't tell you in real world.
The simple answer to your question is it highly depends on the driver, on a case by case basis it could go either way. To get top numbers (at a drag strip) one has to really abuse thier clutch and diff in this car, most of us that really care for our cars are not willing to do this on any sort of regular basis.
The S is most at home on the Auto-X course or out in the twisties, that's where a REAL sports car (light, RWD, powerful) is truly appreciated. It's often said and I WHOLE HEARTEDLY agree, if you are looking for 1/4 mile times get a Mustang or Camaro, this isn't the car for you.

naw, i HATE american cars, but i know ppl that have setup their s2k's for the 1/4. i dont want an INSAANE 10 sec car, but i'll be happy with mid to low 12's down the line. i also love handling and driving hte car hard on turns and all. i like both thats why i go with honda's.

I thought the stock stereo was junk. Every single Honda on the planet has extremely crappy paper cone factory speakers and very weak radios. My stock radio could not be heard with the top down at all....therefore I changed out everything...and running a stereo shop helped out matters greatly. You can PM me if you want some pics.......

oh yeah....and doing rear speakers is a total waste of time....the speaker ends up being behind the seat and you cant hear them at all.....take that money you would spend on them and invest in some real nice front speakers....
Everyone is entitled to thier own opinion.... but if I fade the stereo all the way to the front there's a distinct difference.
Adding the rears is what has made me able to at least hear my stereo on the highway

I've really been toying with the idea of getting a component set - (I have a 2000) so on tweeters in the doors, and mounting the tweeters on the A-PILLARS!!
I was thinking of using the infinity 6 1/2 component set, and hooking the amp up to the stock deck (temporary).
Any ideas if mounting tweeters in the A-Pillars would bea good idea?

out the door stock, for out the door stock, I'd probably say so. For starters the Integra comes w/ 4 speakers, and a better environment for acoustics (convertibles aren't the best sound stage)
I'm not sure what the Type R weighs, but I can thing of a number of good reasons why it would be a little heavier. What you should take into consideration is perfect 50/50 weight balance and what, 50-60 HP more?!
Gmoore, I like that WLaurent Box, considering one myself, how does it sound?
