Icon6 sagged shift boot

I've owned my S for a few months now and keep putting off fixing my shift boot. When I bought it used from a Honda dealership it had several of the optional accessories, including the "titanium" shift ****. However the boot was not secured beneath the **** and falls about half an inch below the shift **** exposing the nut. finally today I got around to giving it a closer look, and as obvious a problem as it seems I can't figure it out. the boot I assumed just wedged between the nut and the ****, but that doesn't seem the case. How do I fix this?

So it just kinda hangs there, with the shifter exposed unlike other cars? I guess because it doesnt slide overly far down like in other vehicles it makes it acceptable, but still wierd

if you really want a trick i have used in the past is to use a large rubber band around the shifter. this helps hold the boot up in place and is adjustable kind of.

I put washers on the shifter itself. I removed the ****, squuezed the washers inside the shift boot opening, and now I have no more sag.

There was also no sag with the stock shift ****. However, I didn't take a picture before installing this one.
