Default shift ****

hey guys i have a 1999 civic dx sedan, and my shift **** is fine but the shift boot is probably broken, because i can see the metal part of the shifter, there is a gap between the actual shifter and the shift boot so idk how i can get rid of that gap other than buying a new shift boot.

Use a zip tie underneath the boot to raise the collar. It won't slide down after that.

take your shift **** off, take the boot flip it inside out, grab a TIE-wrap or ZIP-TIe

put the top of the inside outboot (skinny part) where you want it, zip tie it tight. trim off excess TIEwrap. flip boot back over and put into place replace ****

but if i wanna take off my shift boot, then that takes more work than just pulling it off... you have to remove the plastic around it

Pull down on the collar of the shift boot first to disconnect it from the ****.

i have same problem i just stuck my hair tie under it. just get a new shift boot and zip tie underneath it before you put the new one on. pwjdm sells them for cheap like 30 bux maybe u can even get it for 20. or you can get the honda one i think its like 50. theyre easy to remove you just have to take that whole platform off. the center console thingy next to the shifter and ebrake
