s2000 ecm replacement
hi Guys,
Im posting this for a friend's car.
He got an s2000 model 2001, it was cutting of at 3000 rpm. We checked the engine codes and it showed an ecm circuit failure.
So we will be replacing the ecu. The question is about the keys.
Do we have to do any programming? or just we can simply replace the ecu and the car will run normally?
Thanks

Re: s2000 ecm replacement
This is the current ecu# 37820-PCX-G01 it is europian car.
We got 37820-PCX-A01 which is for USA cars.
The car did not turn on !
So it could be either coz of the key or coz of the ecu? is an europian ecu same as the amercian ?
thanks

its the immobilizer...that ecu's not going to work with the key you have...from my understanding, I believe the U.S. cars are the only ones that got the immobilizer programmed with the key

If you have a green key light on in your cluster you have an immobilizer system. You will just need to have the keys programmed/learned to the PCM
If you don't have an immobilizer that PCM won't work because it has immobilizer functions and your car doesn't, although I think you can take it apart and break something off to disable the immobilizer on it.
Another way to check if you have immobilizer is to see if there is a small black box with a ring around the ignition.

Re: s2000 ecm replacement
Yes the car has an immobilizer.
we went to the work shop having a US ECU but they were not able to run the car.
They said we need to get an europian ecu.
We are afraid that they are missing something in programming and it is not a matter of ecu origin!
Before spending 300$ on a an europian ecu, any body got an idea about the ecu origin relative to running the car?
thanks

What are you using to program? The only tool that I know will work is the honda diagnostic software (HDS). In Order to program the keys you must access the immobilizer control module and (replace PCM) it will ask you for a password, I know the formula to get the code, it changes everyday, you use the date and vin in a formula. I was able to program keys once with a x431 launch scan tool, but only has worked 1 out of about 50 times I've tried. I do this everyday, but not firmiliar with export models.
