hey im looking into getting a s2000 dont know what year or anything. just looking for information on what year is best performance wise. because i know some years have higher rpm limit than others any info will be greatly appriciated. thanks

 

00-03 9k rpm 2.0 litre engine plastic back window

2.2 litre engine

04-05 8k rpm glass rear window

06+ 8k rpm n Drive By Wire Flashpro compatible...

00-01 are the only years with a plastic back window. 02+ have glass rear window.

 

something to keep in mind, the true redline of the AP1 is 8900. The AP2 can be revved to 8200 before fuel cut. You're talking 700 rpms between the two motors; don't get hung up on stratospherically high redlines.

AP1s have a more raw feeling, but it's getting hard to find clean, non-abused examples.
AP2s got the best of everything (styling, interior, motor IMO, tranny, wheel/tires), except suspension; it's a little softer. But it reduced the snap oversteer that wrecked a many AP1s, and if you plan to mod, who cares?

By the way, I've had both an AP1 ('02) and now have an AP2 ('08), I'd never go back to an AP1.

 

i just bought an AP1 and i was wondering what exactly is different in the body from the 1 to the 2. headlights, tailights, front and rear bumper? it appears to be a bit longer but perhaps thats just the picture.

There are some other differences like wheel and tire sizes, headrest speakers, bumpers, and lights.
