Personally, I like Rota. Not everyone is willing to spend several thousand dollars for the "originals". SSR, Volk, etc could all sell their wheels for what rota sells them for but they don't because they think because they are who that are they can sell for whatever and people will buy them. They are right, but Rota allows people to get a lightweight wheel that looks good for alot better price. Just be cause you are caught up on names doesn't mean he should have to spend 3 times the money. I say get them.

oh sure, I know I'm definitely willing to drop the steep coin for a "name brand" wheel that undergoes the same manufacturing process as the rota at a fraction of the cost....

sorry, but unless you're talking ultra lightweight forged magnesium wheels, a cast wheel is a cast wheel is a cast wheel.

Rota makes a good wheel, and they have for years.

I don't like those at all, they don't even look like the real thing! It's not even a multi-piece wheel. Fake bolts FTL! lol I also don't think they offer the best offsets and widths for an S2000 either but it's been awhile since I looked that up. If you like the way the wheels look, then get them

The Work Meister was created before the SSR wheel. The SSR's don't look as good as the works though, and they have a different face. Rota was specifically trying to knock off the work wheel not the SSR.

Um, the Work Meister is a forged wheel dude. MANY times stronger then your Rota's and a way different manufacturing process. Also, all cast wheels are not created equal.

Yes all the Meister are forged...

EDIT: I am reading that the larger S1's (19") may have a cast center...

You'll need three more and some tires.

A forged will be just as fubard as a cast wheel if you are planning on curb hopping. There is no practical reason to have a forged wheel on the street. Most rota wheels weight little anyway beign cast. There is no right answer the arguement only opinions. He was thinking about getting Rotas therefore he doesn't care it isn't a "name brand".

Actually they WERE trying to knockOFF the SSR sp1 rims and Failed horribly.

My car with SSRsp1

The lip of the SSR sp1

and the wack *** Rotas...notice how the centers actually stick out more than the lip

to me, rims are rims. im kind of not willing to spend 2k on some rims if i daily my car because i drive over to much dirt places and stuff. if you like how they look just get them, as long as they make you happy, you should be good to go.

both the ssr and works wheels look so much nicer. im all for saving money, but rota wheels (that look poorly) on a nice sports car like an s2000, it just feels more like corners being cut.

I'm a fan of Rotas though most of my wheels have been originals (Mugens, Works, Volks). I used to rock slipstreams on my hatch back in the day .

Personally, I do not like the look of the D2 though I love the Works Meisters.

But hey it's all personal preference. What may look cheap to me, may look great to you. There are plenty of expensive and "JDM" rims out there that I think look outright hideous. But 90% seem to disagree due to the rareness

most I ever spent on wheels was $400/ea for Wedsport SA70's in 18x9 and 18x10 for my 350z. I probably won't spend more than that ever again.

The only thing I think when I see work or volk or SSR is "man, that guy spent a shitload on wheels when that money could've made him go faster"

Yah, money to ride better? Spend thousands on work wheels, and in the case of the pic above, use continental tires? Talk about ****. Yeah. that rides better. Until he loses traction due to shitty tires and ends up in a ditch or guard rail. I'm sure the cop responding will be admiring those sweet works while you wait for a tow truck.

I just prefer to get more performance out of my car if I'm going to be spending thousands rather than dumping the cash into a boutique set of wheels.

Thanks for the opinions guys. Did I read that someone said that the 17's would not fit my car because of a brake issue?

lol...

the way i look at it...why are you buying the rims

performance, appearance, etc?

as far as appearance goes, if you are trying to impress the bitches, it doesn't matter which wheels you go with....they all look the same to women

as far as trying impress losers on internet forums ...then you want the high dollar **** that you will never test to it's full potential...

now for performance, i would go for the high dollar **** (lighter, durable, etc.)...but also invest in a good tire...nankangs won't do

just my .02 cents
