Radio Problems??
I bought a 02 S2000... but i didnt know someone had switched out the factory speakers for some nice audiobahns... but the right door speaker ground has been lost... i pulled the radio out and on the top right corner theres a nice brown spot... some i tried to ground it thru the power mirror since i dont mess with those at all... it worked but it get the alternator interferance and can only turn it up halfway and it all cuts out... anyone got any ideas of what i can use for a ground ?? or if they also think the ground in the factory radio is shorted out??
The ( - ) negative terminal on speakers in your car have not connected to chassis ground since the early 80's. Doing that will KILL a "modern" radio. Thats why at half volume, your radio was cutting out. The negative terminal should only connect to the negative speaker lead from the radio for that side. If you leave it grounded to a bolt in your door, you will let the magic smoke out of the radio and the spell will be broken (no more tunes).
what im saying is... i had it hooked up right... positive into positive on the radio and negative on negative to the radio... i lost the ground from the radio to the speaker... and i pulled the factory radio out there was a nice quarter size brown mark which indicated something burnt out.... so for the mean time to have something to listen i grounded the speaker to the chasis ...!!
