Default plastic window maintenance

Two questions fellas, first: what kind of maintanence is required to keep the plastic window nice (you know not turning all yellow and such, on a side note, does it make a lot of noise when the wind hits it?) Second: I posted an earlier message about converting to the '02 glass window, and someone posted that its about 800-900 dollars because you have to change the whole soft top. I called the dealer and they want 2400, where could I find a better deal for that soft top outside of S2ki?

I see on hardtopguy they have the OEM soft top, either year, for like 780 bucks but it says it does not include the frame, do I need a different frame if I get the 02 soft top (to get that glass rear window)?

yes and no, call hardtopguy and they will go over it with you. there is a way to do it without a new frame but is much harder.

does the frame make up most of that cost that i was originally quoted by the dealership (2400)?

yeah the frame itself is about 1000 or so, then the soft top itself is another 800.

Soft Tope with glass

Frame

You can see the pics for yourself. The frame is different but there is a way to modify your existing one to work with the glass window. I will see if i can find the thread about it. Your best bet is to buy a used top with frame that has the glass window. They are fairly cheap (700-800).

If you are going to get it from the dealership, you might as well buy a hardtop for a couple hundred more.

Yeah if I can't find a good deal I may just consider getting the hard top but I like to be able to go into convertible mode at any time [I know it sounds lame!] Are we talking about labor intensive in order to modify the existing frame to fit the 02 soft cover w/ glass window?
