Default paint

My ap1 I recently purchased was given ap2 bumpers and exhaust tips by the first owner, but the color that the bumpers were painted are not exactly the right "spa" (i think) yellow that they should be, I am probably going to take my s to a dealership for exact color matching and I was just wondering how much should it cost me, or would it be better to just try another shop?? thanks

The AP1 is Spa/New Indy Yellow. The 04+ is Rio Yellow Pearl. That explains the color difference.

The spa yellow is hard match for most body shops even when they go by the color code. The pearl color is the culprit and depending on light conidtions, you'll get a green or red hue at various angles. The bumpers are especially hard to match.

True its a tri stage paint and very hard to duplicate its almost easier to shoot the whole car from botom to top!!!!

At our last Fall colors meet, we had all the spa's and rio's lined up in order. No spa's matched in paint. They were all slight different. Out of the 11-12, only 2 had fronts repainted. The spa color is a bitch to match and even a dealership will not guarantee. A local here had his ing's kit repainted 3 times to try to get it to match. Eventually he got fed up and painted the whole car.

thanks a lot guys, I guess I will probably get the whole car repainted before I hit college this fall. If I take it to a dealer, how much do you think it will cost to re paint it the Spa yellow??

That's a good estimate for a quality paint job that does the whole car

why tho'? a good shop can match it 90-95%, painting the whole car will decrease the valve of the car, plus you will get some rock chips on the bumper anyways, are you going to paint that again?

well, i guess if you have that much money to spend then go for it.

I was considering repainting the whole car because on the third day I had my s, I drove it to school, and it got keyed, then the very next day, it got keyed AGAIN. And I am not sure if the key marks are going to be able to just be buffed out, or maybe touched up or not, and of course they decided to not only do my door, but go past the door both ways, so there is my dilemma.
