Loud transmission and Jerks
Hi all,
I have a 01 and I have been noticing this problem but never had a chance to post it. I notice that when I shift gear I get a loud clunk noise - loudest in 1,2,3 gear. Shifts smooth and no grinds. Not sure if this is a common. My second problem is, my car jerks or bogs every now and then. For example, if I'm in second gear at 10 mph easing off the gas pedal, it jerks back and forth hard enough to where it looks like a rookie learning to drive manual. Any input is great. Thanks

Re: Loud transmission and Jerks
lol... the s2k has a direct drop-in tranny, its suppose to clunk. (the tranny is directly under the shifter)
and when you let off the gas im assuming you mean with the clutch still disengaged, and thats perfectly normal as well. the tranny's dragging, put it in neutral and it'll roll smoothly (or clutch in)

Thanks, I guess its normal for the clunking noise. As for the car jerking, I normally do put it in neutral and let the car roll. I came from a teg and never had this happen. Still learning this car..........

Re: Loud transmission and Jerks
i'd go ahead and change it and stick to the Honda tranny fluid. they use a better fluid since the last time you car probably was changed. might as well change the diff fluid also...

Re: Loud transmission and Jerks
^^^motor mounts wouldn't cause a clunk noise once the clutch engaged...he didn't mention vibrations when car is in idle...that doesn't seem to be the problem.

haha the same thing happen to me. i have an 03 and when i first got it..i was like wtf cuz i was used to driving my husband's DC5 and it never jerks in 1st or 2nd going at lower speed but because the S is made to be at a higher rpm, you kinda have to stay at a higher rpm to keep it smooth...so say if you want to avoid the jerking try not to stay in 2nd gear unless you're over12 or 13mph ...3rd gear over 20mph. you'll get used to it. as for daily driving and wanting to safe gas...as this is what i have to do ..rev to 4k before shifting...it runs so smooth and gas won't go from full tank to half a tank in a day lol. good luck!
