I'm sorry mods... I think we need a rambling thread.

Exactly. The muscles above your tail bone. and I poo 3x a day with the amount of broccoli I eat...
but yeah this dude was reporting every post to a mod, then threatened to call the cops and arrest people for harassment, etc. then this thread got locked...
so me and boots locked ourselves in with a few hostages (one of the hostages being the dude who was reporting everything to mods). after a couple hours of hostage negotiation, me and boots just 12-gauged the yappy hostage and said forget it. then the thread got re-opened and that individual won't be returning to our thread... or at least thats how the story goes..

so, my car is starting to rattle like a diesel at minimum revs - does that sound like motor mounts?
If i slightly blip the throttle back to 1000rpm, it stops immediately. It's just when it dips below 900/1000 a little now and again.
i don't think it's anything too sinister..

could be motor mounts, heatshield, cat, or header/exhaust or a combination of some of those things... but if it developed recently probably suggests the motor mount(s)

situation didn't allow lol.. when i was leaving i noticed her from behind (time-glass figure ftmfw btw) but it wasn't like i was gonna go out of my way to say something on my way out.. she looked at her monitor (real-time security cameras) and saw that i was behind her and on my way out... she fumbled and went pretty far out of her way to say 'have a nice day' to me but i was a good distance away already. i just returned the 'you too' and smiled. left it at 'til we meet again' hahaha

Thanks chaps - i've ruled out the heatshield, and i can't hear it coming from the header (other than usual ticking).
If it's the TCT, doesn't that do it all the time (rise and fall with revs)?

this sound stops immediately at anything above 900/1000rpm. It's just as it dips below slightly (usually briefly) it starts rattling.
It's definitely not a card-in-spoke type sound. More of a cold-diesel-engine rattle and shake.

with the car running, pop the hood and see if you can replicate the noise. then brace the engine (by pushing firmly against it to help dampen vibrations) see if it goes away. then start playing around with where you push and see where the noise is centralized. Shitty way to diagnose, I know, but it's free and it works.
I just let my broken motor mounts take a go at my driveshaft. don't really care since I drive very conservatively now that I'm old...

nice one dagle - i'll give it a go. I think i'll change motor mounts before my driveshaft takes a beating though.

how many miles on the car(miles not kilometers you weird fawk)?
did you ever replace the TCT before?
check your oil level, if you can put in like a half a quart of fresh oil and see if the noise stops for a minute or 2...
also does it chatter on start up???

jizmac , did the problem just start?
I think it's been gradually getting worse - hard to tell since the sub went in..

did you ever replace the TCT before?
No - due you reckon?

Checked the oil a couple of months ago, so yeah, i'll give that a try
also does it chatter on start up???
No - only when the revs dip below the 900/1000 mark
