Any one know the reasoning behind wrapping your headers???

Any one know why headers may crack if wrapped??

Reasons for wrapping headers:
Helps control under hood temps
Increases velocity of exhaust gasses exiting the engine therefor making it more efficient
If running a catalytic converter it will light faster
and it looks MaD TyTE yO!

Reasons not to:
If you don't know how to wrap a header it can cause uneven heating causing cracks
It will smell for the first couple days

Keep underhood temps down. On turbo manifolds, it helps keep as much exhaust energy and heat going to the turbo as possible. IMO, the welds are the weak spots on a wrapped header. On a header like mine, I would only wrap the runners, but there was never a need to since my underhood temp was relatively low due to the vented hood.

That's not an S2000 header.

I see a possible problem spot where the primaries join into the secondaries, with the extra wraps around that area. Maybe.

yes recommended 1/4 in of over lap for heat dissipate. but sometimes you overlap a little more. it happens

I only have one pic of my j's racing headers wrap. not the best job learned a little more over time.
