Default 'Fluttering'

Year: '05
Milage: approx. 18K
Mods: None

Question: Do anyone notice a very faint 'fluttering' sound when driving around town (3200 ish rpms), or have any idea what it could be? Also, when I let of the gas slowly, the sound from my exhaust is a little raspy. Both of this could be normal, I'm not sure so as this is my first S2000. I'm not used to high reving engines.

P.S. the fluttering sound is very very quiet, and as far as I can tell, is not aviberation. It sounds liek its comming from the front of the car somewhere and happens with the roof up or down.

Thanks for any help!

do you have an intake? mine came with one and the pipe would rattle on the front tie bar. i just bought a foam hose from home depot and wrapped it around the bar to keep the pipe from rattling on it. not sure if that is what you are talking about.

another thing...

may be your not giving it enough gas? i try and shift around 3500-4000 and if i am slowing down lower than 2500rpm i try and down shift to keep it above. this is my second s2k and this car makes a lot of noise- if its not something that sticks out too much- its prolly nothing...just my 2 cents.

No, I dont have an intake.

alexisthemovie: I'll try to get a video in the next week sometime when I can get a good quality videocamera. The sound sucks on mine because I dont have an external mike yet.

Thanks to everyone one else who responded as well! Go team go!

Holy hell, GRAF-FITI is back from the dead! when did this happen?

HondaKyle: It happens above 3000 all the way to 8K, but the wind sort of drowns it out once your doing highway speeds. It is a very faint background noise, alot quiter then the sound of your engine reving.

Fluttering - the sound I'm talking about is similer to the sound you'd make as a kid to pretend you were a helicopter( not that I did that ) . . . The one where you blow lightly and flap your tounge..... and no, not the same as the one your girlfriend likes!!! and again, its very very quiet. I'm beginning to think its the sound of the pistons moving up and down

you wouldnt be hearing the pistons i dont think... remember... 3600rpms = 60 revolutions per second

does it occur with the top up or down? does it make the noise while sitting still & revving?

It makes the noise top up or down, and even if im parked revving. Im going to try and get a clip of it to post, but i dont know if it's to quiet to get or not. I drove my brothers 07 SI and didnt hear the noise in his car, so its either specific to the S2000 or my car has something wrong.

I know the noise you're talking about. It's nothing. Our car makes weird noises, like the whistle when you're messing with the throttle, and the loud clutch...
