For vehicles with fuel-tank mounted fuel pumps, additional differences to prevent arcing, as well as flame arrestors positioned in the tank's fill pipe, are also sometimes used."

So what would this do to an engine made of magnesium block casting and walls?

They put special coating on the pistons and cylinder walls, and valves then a regular engine. E85 is very corrosive to aluminum. Use it in your regular engine if you want to save a few cents, but I'm going to run 93 octane like honda wants me to, and not worry about my engine falling apart.
You buy a $30k car and your going to cheep out on gas. Just go get a kia and be done with it.
Mr. Projeckt just wanted to let you know that it wasn't misinformation. Those last comments where directed towards anyone who doesn't want to run the recommended fuel.</TD></TR></TABLE>
I already mentioned that the fuel system is different, while YOU stated that the engine is different.

And it's "different THAN stock" Mr Edjamakated. Finish your "schooling" first, then come get schooled again after that degree in whatthefukever.

Well the engine is different than stock now isn't it. I think that specially coated pistons and cylinder walls and valves means its a different engine. and last time I checked injectors, and fuel rails where part of the engine. Oh and sorry I didn't use the proper word, and probably misspelled some words to. I'm not an english major sorry.

lol why are some of the honda tech "veterans" so rude to everyone? Do you get off on it? You probably wouldnt act like this in person. You're an E-thug. The guy states something, you tell him to "GTFO"...then continue to beat him up about it armed with your keyboard and your endless knowledge of semantics? If you think he's wrong, why not just state your case without trying to get all crazy? Take a few pills.

Re: E85 Can s2k run it ? Pros\Cons (B serious)
E85 does require more fuel but its not as much as most people think. Figure stoich for neat gasoline is around 14.7:1--for methanol its around 6.5:1 and straight ethanol I believe its around 9-9.5:1. Figure e85 stoich is around 10:1. (I could be wrong on that last figure--I am just estimating taking into account the 15% gasoline content of e85).
The GM vehicles have fuel system components that won't be dried out by ethanol. They also have two different programs in the ecu --one for neat gas and one for e85. I have seen some figures on GM vehicles where they got around 25 mpg with straight gasoline and 22-23 with e85 in the same vehicle driven under similar conditions.
The good thing about it is I believe its octane rating is somewhere over 100, and since its mostly alcohol it has a very strong cooling affect--both points good for a lot of compression or alot of boost. With 100 octane Cam 2 going for $7.99/gallon and e85 (if you can find it) is somewhere in the $2.00 range its starts to make sense--if you need that kind of octane.
It wouldn't be too hard to convert a normal gasoline car--maybe larger fuel pump, possibly larger injectors and you would have to make sure the rubber and plastic in the fuel system is compatible. I think its a really good thing--its far less corrosive than methanol which does require more maintenance.

I haven't seen any productions cars from honda that are flex fuel. You can actually look up which cars today have that type of technology and it doesn't list any honda cars that can use both ethanol or gas, under Flex Fuel cars.
It was even quoted that honda does not plan to make any cars at the moment that support E85, there are SOME or very few hondas that support blends of E10, but thats it. Mazda has a car that supports E85 and i think nissan? but no honda's sorry

the gm flex fuel vehicles have a lot of aluminum in contact with fuel. I doubt they are coated either. Maybe the pistons but id like to see evidence of that as far as i can tell internally they are the same. People have blended home e85 for years with little problems on vehicles not designed for it. Just like ive ran leaded fuel on my car with no ill effects to the motor maybe a little hard on the o2 sensor. Ive seen leaded gas cars run fine on unleaded. Its just for liability purposes that the manufacturers have to disclose certain possibilities.

Re: E85 Can s2k run it ? Pros\Cons
that video is retarded and thus why it's not surprising that GM went under. The gasoline that you have been pumping has been up to 15% ethanol already. You've been pumping I guess what you would call E15 the entire time. If there was truly a catastrophic problem lingering from ethanol, it would have presented itself widely already.
Then again, if you think about liability, what major corporation would say that E85 is safe when their components were never designed/tested for it? I say it's safe, and in the worst case scenario your car goes up in flames, no biggy.
