Default Differential

Just wondering if anyone new what other rear ends you can put on the S or whats the best upgrade? I used to have a 240sx with the r33 skyline vlsd and it made the world of difference. Being that its a 5 lug, wondering if you could match that up in an S. Would you have to use the guts out of it and fit it in the stock housing, switch axles, etc.... Not sure about everyone else's, but lately mine kind of clicks under a pressure, like just going up an incline.

Also, doesnt have to do with the diff, but lately when i let off the clutch real slow and go to take off, the car kinda of like chugs, its hard to explain better to see in person. It like cuts in and out until it gets in higher rpm, some people told me flywheel. Don't know to much about the internal stuff so any help would be great......

im willing to bet that it is not your diff...

you know how many diffs i have been through and it still clicks...which leads be to believe it's axles.

Take out the spindle nut, grease it, then re-torque it to 220lb-ft. problem solved

I have no clicking, I agree that it's probably the axles not the diff making that noise.

As stated inline pro makes a kit that allows the use of the R200 Nissan differential. It includes a new drive shaft, axles, hubs, studs and mount.

What Honda should do is make a stronger diff. I broke mines and my only mods are a exhaust and drop in filter. Driver error and abuse could have alot to do with it, but my boy beats on his 240 all the time day in and day out with no issues yet lol. But im gonna look into the r200 diff kit.

for sure, clicking is from axle. i had one break on me before. and i know its not a diff, because i broke one of those two.

i also have a question about the diff:
1. say my diff is whining right now...will it have a chance of breaking on me if i drove it hard? not shifting hard...but like going at high RPMs?

If your diff is whining, chances are that you have sheered off a couple teeth somehow. I would Replace the fluid and check for metal shaving when you drain it.

If you are getting a clicking sound while accelerating you should check your axle spindle nut. It is a common problem with AP1's
