dean_c89's v8 s2ooo swap (build thread)
hey guys, new to this forum but being s2ki and i have our differences and they feel the need to delete every non-purist thread i make figured i'd start such here. anyway, as the title says this thread will be documenting my v8 (5.7l ls1) swap in my 2oo9 s2ooo.
long story short i've had the car for about two and a half years and while i've done a lot of exterior modifications to such including various color changes have decided it's time to do some performance work.
there's numerous reasons why one would want to keep the stock f20/22 as well as why one would want to swap a foreign engine in. my reasoning is that the ls1 roughly has a reliable 350hp/350tq in stock form and an easy 100hp is only bolt-ons away. it also weighs 395lbs which isn't much more than our stock engine's 325lbs (f/i applications easily bring that right around 395lbs), and let's not forget that a rebuild is a lot more common when one goes f/i versus na (at least in my opinion). the ultimate factor however was the fact that this is a.) different and b.) the entire swap cost me right under $3,500 once i sold my stock engine/trans. anyway, let's get onto the pictures, given my engine and trans are already here and am currently waiting on my import muscle kit such will make for some nice hype! haha
car pic numero uno
car pic numero dos
quick pic of my 'engine start' relocate for those interested
here's the ls1 the night i picked it up in all of it's glory
and here's the t56 trans i picked up from an 'o4 gto
that's all for now, currently working on shaving the engine bay but will take some pictures and post them shortly.
