Clutch problems again
It has been slightly over a year since I had my clutch replaced at a Honda dealership. Ever since the clutch was installed I did not like it and I thought the catch point was WAY too high. I had brought it to the dealer right after they installed it and they said everything was fine. Well recently the catch point has been getting higher and higher. I ended up bringing the car to another Honda dealership to have it looked at. Outside of the catch point being high the clutch pedal feels almost crunchy or sticky for lack of better words. Its very strange because usually when I drive the car in the morning it feels fine. Then maybe 15-20 minutes later it starts to feel sticky and crunchy again. Then by the time I drive my car home from work it feels sometimes even worse most likely cause I use the clutch more in traffic.
I was hoping that the problem was the master cylinder or slave cylinder but Honda rulled that out yesterday when I brought the car there. They are telling me the only way to find the problem is to take appart the clutch which will cost $300 - $400 and then the same price to put it back together. I have called Honda customer support and they said there is a possiblity that they may cover the problem if the clutch was installed improperly. I didn't want to go back to the original dealer that installed the clutch cause they are terrible. Anyone ever had a problem like this or maybe just have an idea of what I should do? If I knew Honda won't cover the clutch I would just go and get a new clutch at Ballistic Motorsports for $950, as the dealer quoted me $2100!!!!

mine is like that right now, Sometimes the pedal is really easy to press and feels real smooth, and sometimes is is hard to push and feels "crunchy" as you described. I figured it was just my slave cylinder. I might need to look into this also.
The catch point will also shift sometimes its rediculously high sometimes kinda high. A Honda tech drove the car and also confirmed this, he seemed boggled. I just don't see how I could have caused the clutch to have this problem. I have probably only launched the car 3 times with the new clutch and maybe missed a gear once.
clutch friction point being high is usually associated with a thin disc....or an improperly machined flywheel....see if the flywheel was machine or not.
I've done a few masters and slaves in S2K's also...seem to go bad quite often.

same here. everything was brand new for me. I have bled the clutch 3 times since the replacement and it still hasn't improved. Let me know what the outcome is, i would like to have the answer.
