worry about that before you worry about mods

Don't even have the car yet and already thinking about ripping the head apart to put in some cams that will do virtually nothing. Lots of learning to do. Starting with learning to drive the car for what it is. Coming from an Integra GS, you're in for a steep learning curve.

I agree. Came from a GSR myself. RWD is fun but you have to respect the car for what it can do.

True story. My other is a fwd and has serious torque steer its a huge jump from there to a rwd car that handles as good as the s2000, you should start out with suspension stuff first and then get engine stuf and even then i wouldnt jump right into getting cams

Yes the car is still at the dealer. Yes its insured and all is well. Only reason i dont have it is because i live in pittsburgh and we got 5in of snow today with will be continueing till friday afternoon so im just waiting for the weather to break to go pick it up. Also yes i came from a Integra Gs which had mild all motor build ctr pistons skunk2 pro cams twm itbs blah blah love the s2k just feels a lil underpowered compared to my integra just wondering on some input
Always been an All Motor guy so turbo/supercharger isnt an option. Im not a noob, been working on and building hondas since i was 15 but i am new to the S2K. Any experiance or help is appreciated just looking for you thoughts, thanks

Your first mistake. It's not a matter of power differential between the two. I could care less if you had 500whp in the Integra.
It's a matter of rwd compared to a fwd. A whole world of difference. And the S is not forgiving to errors in driving. And with you living in Pittsburgh, and it being in the middle of winter, and with the apparent arrogance and ignorance I currently see in you, I sense a disaster waiting to happen if you don't respect the S. Regardless of if you think it's underpowered, and has less power than your Integra.

I totally agree with you ill be the first to say i have a ton a learning to do with the car, and esp RWD. But am not gonna push the cars limits without first knowing them. Weve had a very very mild winter here and the car will not be driven in the snow either. Which is why its currently sitting at the dealer, and most likely be in my garage for atleast another month before spring . JW on the current cams for market for the S and peoples exp and thoughts on them just figured i would get a jump start on the car while its sitting until spring for the up and coming good weather and track days, thanks

I've already answered it in my first post.

People exaggerate a bit on the s2000. I guess it is just to scare it into people to be careful.
Just don't be a jackass and you will be fine. It is a bit *** happy in the rain, but if you are a competent driver you shouldn't have any issues.
I came from an integra to an s2000, and it was different, but nothing that a little getting used to couldnt help. Im back in an integra again, so i definately know the difference.
Will be getting another s in 2009. yay

seriously...why don't you get used to the car before thinking about mods? and when you do think about mods, why do you want to start w/ cams?

for real lol, you want the best first mod, gears, now search and learn lol
intake, exhaust
header dont do much but save weight and look great unless you ball out for 900-1200 and get one shows to make quality gains.
a wing or diffuser will give you some extra needed downforce on the *** end to keep it more stable during high speed cornering
have fun
cams,,,, um no

Here is the criteria I have been using when modding all of my cars.
Coilovers/other suspension stuff
Intake
Exhaust
Wheels
the rest depends on what car it is
But i didnt put new cams on any of them until there was really nothing else to do.

Yes, virtually nothing. What's so hard to understand about that. If you want to spend the money on cams, go ahead and gain like 3rwhp. Have fun with that.

cams=800
aem ems=1400
decent tune=500
is this worth the 12 midrange hp your going to get??????
ull c the same gains with a header tp and 70mm single and thats with no tunning and something u can do in your driveway

^ Actually the AEM EMS alone would net you more than that. Before I went boost, I was running the AEM EMS, CAI, 70mm T1R single, Berk test pipe and I was at around 238rwhp. (I don't remember exactly, it's been awhile)
already ordered up the j's I/H/E and looking into picking K-pro this week not a fan of aem would like to make around 250hp was thinken about throwing in a spoon headgasket some studs and the skunk2 stg ones

wow. you just spent like 5k on an I/H/E setup. thats crazy.
AEM EMS is the best on the market for the S2000, no doubt about it. if you want to make the most power, go with it, but it is a pretty penny...although doesnt seem you really care...
and wtf? why would you want to upgrade your headgasket with boltons??? your not going to be pushing THAT much power...
but yeah, seiously...dont even bother with internals or head work, complete waste of time and money if you're N/A
