Please Help
I recently (saturday) purchased a 2002 Honda S2000 its sebring silver on all red int very nice mint condition. Car has 10844 miles on it and i paid 17995 for after taxes plate blah blah blah came out to 19455 out the door. My problem is its still sitting at the dealer because of insurance. I got numerous "quotes" before i purchased it but now im trying to activate the quotes and there running my driving history and they are going threw the roof( to the tune of 3779 for 6 months). Question is can i put the car in just my moms name and ins just in her name as well and still drive it legally. Weve all driven someone elses car sometime will that work?? not whineing just figured you all have more exp with thing than me any input is greatly appreciated ,thanks
Thats the problem those quotes are with me as the secondary driver. Was wondering if i could put it all in her name and still drive it like i was just using her car?

damn dude...when i was looking at an nsx at age 22 6 months was $3000...
anyway, you should be able to have your mom insure it and list you as a driver...but that is kind of shady
if anything happens the insurance company is going to question why it was purchased and registered by you.....then you'll have to use some BS excuse like "it was a gift for my mom"...but they probably won't by that either
sell the car to your mom for $1, have her register it, and add you as a driver...only solution i can think of (and a ghetto one at that)

i as well go through esurance...but regardless your driving record is only going to impede your ability to find affordable insurance without sacrificing coverage

yeah the driving history is gonna be the major factor of the quotes but after checking those other companies and getting quotes from $145-$220(Geico/Progressive respectively) i decided to check esurance and i now pay $124.25 a month.
thats with one accident and a red light ticket. Hopefully they can give you a lower price than the +$3000 every six months those other companies wanna charge.
good luck

she will need to own the car for her to register it under her name and then add you to the policy. if you add the car under your name to the policy it will be almost as much as you on your own.

If the car is in your name only, you have to have insurance by yourself, no if ands or buts about it. If you co-signed with mom then you have to have co-sign insurance meaning you have to be a primary driver on her plan, still expensive. The only way around this is if the car is in her name, she insures it and you are a secondary driver not listed as primary of that car. If it is soley in you name now you would have to sell it to her.
