Boosting ap1 without intercooler?
You should ask the forced induction forum this question. Why would you not use an intercooler. If you have a budget that doesnt allow you to use one then you shouldnt be boosting your S2000.
You don't really need an intercooler to run forced induction, but it does help a lot in cooling the air temperature before it being ingested by your engine.
Many people run the Comptech supercharger without an aftercooler.

I would rather just buy an intercooler on ebay for 200 dollars.

But to tickle your boat, Greddy sell some of their turbo kits (for civics and integras) without intercoolers.
to the op: yes you can, but you also can run a window 95 on a vista 64bit hardward, the bigger question is why.
you already know colder air is more condense=less pre ignition "opps"(sometime to think about beside cutting cost and running less part)
beside packing more punch, you also get a wider safety margin.
you can get aways with it with low psi set up but you are about 80 percent done, saving on the 20% sometime doesn't make sense if you paying for a sc/turbo, etc
but that;s just me
5 psi without and intercooler is just fine. at 5 psi your not compressing the air very much and intake thems should stay relativaly managable. BUT its always best to run one. you can get a small cheap ebay one and will more than get the job done with what your looking to do
as for SC and turbo being different temps compressed air is compressed air and the temps would be minimally different. thats why roots style SC suck because they create to much heat and hard to cool it so power production falls off after boosting for a gear or two. a centrifugal sc is basically a belt driven turbo and much easier to route to an intercooler so the power gains are better to a certain point. everything has its ups and downs but thats all preference
