Default what ecu did you put in your prelude SH??

I have a question for type SH prelude owners. What ecu do you use in your prelude after major mods done? Any info would be helpful, i'm getting the head p&p and upgrading valvetrain with FERREA. I need to know what ecu is better for tuning my motor, a p28 or p72? Do i have to use an obd1 ecu or is there an obd2 ecu that i can use?

Also want ATTS or not?

I am considering the new GReddy e-manage ultimate after a few more mods. It seems to be the best piggyback out there for those like me that need the factory ecu to retain certain functions.

If i change my ecu i'm going to lose the ATTS. I know p72 controlls knock sensor and p28 doesn't. I wanted to know what SH owners are using and is there an obd2 ecu i can use or do i have to change to obd1? thanx again for useful info.

Im leaning more towards a p72. What rpm did you have your vtec engage? Another question, i have an AEM fuel rail, i'm getting a fpr and upgrading my fuel pump are my stock injectors going to be fine or do i have to upgrade them also?

just get the "chromed" p72 like hulk said and get a lsd to replace the atts unit. will save some headaches as the atts is very picky...mechanical helical lsd FTW
you will also have a broader choice of headers/exhausts as the sh atts unit requires longer piping and a different design to get past it.

I also wanted to know the same thing I have a SH also. My biggest problem is that my car however is still under the factory honda care warranty which i don't want to void. I am trying to stay as close to stock as possible so that the honda techs don't void my contract. I want to keep all the stock functionality. atts and all with the ability to tune the thing atleast a little bit. I know the piggy backs like the apexi vafc are said to be mostly a waste so what are my other options. so far mods are euro r mani, tb, fuel rail & injectors which require a deffinate tune cause she is gonna run rich. Also apexi WS2, High flow cat(Random tech) Header, & CAI. I am looking at getting some stg 2 valvetrain also very soon. What should I do guys I really need your help.

I have all the mods listed in my current post. The cat will be put on this weekend and hopefully the euro R mani and all will be installed shortly after. I still need to get her on the dyno. I just need to know what to tune with and how I am gonna go about keeping my atts. believe me kid i am in the same boat as u. SOme body help us out here. I have the factory contract that expires the end of 08 thats why I can't go to crazy on this build. I need something for a daily driver/ cheap week end racer.

only way to keep ATTS is keep all teh factory computers. your only option is to add a piggyback liek a vafc or greddy emanage.

Yeah, im looking into the GREDDY emanage ULTIMATE. I can keep my stock ecu and ATTS with this? Has anyone used the emanage on their SH yet? I'd like to know how it worked out.

Thanx for the dyno printout, nice #'s .That is what im looking for. I want to upgrade my motor but still want it to have some stock capabilities. I want a daily driver but with a little pick up and go. So is the GReddy Emanage Ultimate a good investment i should really look into?

for sure it is a good investment, especially since it is one of the only options for type SH owners. You MUST get it tuned or you will not get the full capabilities of the parts.

when are you going to get all of your headwork done? i am going to be selling my current head (the one that put down the numbers in the dyno above) in a few months for ~800 with the cams as well. The only reason I am doing that is because I am getting another head port and polished, and totally re-done. I am then going to swap the heads out in 1 day, so I have virtually no downtime on my car If you're interested, send me an email @ cmchu@***.net

FYI you cant put an LSD in an ATTS Trans.

I'm getting the headwork done in a couple of weeks. I'm just waiting for my FERREA valvetrain to come in. It should be here on thursday or friday the latest. I'll keep your offer in mind, i also have a cousin with an h22 in a EG hatchback.

This may sound retarded but has anyone tried plugging in an ITR ecu into their Prelude Type-S engine? If so does the atts still function?

The only reason why i would want to do this is to raise the rev limit slightly and of course i would get it tuned.

so I picked up an OBD -1 P72 with an S300 already in it , I like the other guy have an SH chassis, 2000 prelude. I’ve already converted mine back down to an LSD trans … is there any specific wiring other than a jumper OBD-2 to OBD-1 harness? I have an OBD-1 tuck harness from eBay laying on the shelf , but the wiring doesn’t match factory for cross reference to a service manual. I’m extensively modded with fully built top and bottom end… my wide band is showing my cams have me running lean AF so I need to remap the fuel and timing
