welded diff
does anyone have FIRST hand experience with a welded diff in a h22. I have a built h22-t. that im having the tranny rebuilt in right now and dont want to spend another 1000 on a diff.
please give me first hand experience. has anything bad happened to you(that was not user error).

If you are going for drag only then what about a spool? They won't cost near as much as a diff will.

in sense wouldnt that just be a welded diff.
my theory of it is that the spider gears would never be able to rotate to break the weld because the gear would not be able to compress the weld between the gears. PLEASE ENLIGHTEN ME IF IM WRONG. i dont want to make a big mistage. thanks

You are right same thing but I wouldnt want to take the chance myself, i know its been done before tho. I'd be too scared a little chunk of weld would break or fall off and grenade the tranny

Welded diff and spool are the same thing, you're right.
A bunch of club road racers (SCCA) would weld their diffs because LSD's were unavailable or unattainable ($$). That was mostly back in the 80's. And yes, they could turn.
Last guy I saw weld a diff was in an Accord, for demo derby.

youll be fine welding it. i know of a hotrod car with a welded H22 diff.....
