Default weird power problem

Hey guys, i was hoping you guys could help me out... I did some searching and just wanted to get some new opinions.

My Car has lost alot of power. I could be smashing the gas pedal and the accelaration is very slow. Ive been noticing more black soot on the end of my exhaust and bumper and there is a rattling sound underneath my car(sounds like its underneath my backseat). Through my research ive ran accross a couple of threads where it was, a bad cat, a bad o2 senser, a bad egr valve or bad timing. I was hoping someone might be able to shed some light on my problem.

Thank You
-Jonathan

i would check those things first, anyone of those things would cause loss of power. also when was your last full tune up.

You need to check things that effect the fuel since you are running rich judging by your description. TPS, MAP, ECT, IAT. unless there is misfiring then check the distributor stuff instead

Hey Guys, im pretty sure that its my catalytic converter, i took a look underneath... when I rev the car that loud rattling sound is comming from my cat.

Would that explain my power loss and while there is black soot over the tip of my exhaust?

Looks like it's time for a new kitty.

it could be, if it was clogged then that would hurt your power

i was just reading on it. you will have a rotten egg smell and the cat will heat up to the point that it turns red. didnt see anything about making it run rich. alos says that gas mileage will be horrible and you should be running with a check engine light

I recently got a Catco cat for my CRV and it was pretty decent and a bolt on for ~$130. If you want a good high-flow get a Carsound/Magnaflow.
