Default VTEC / smoke problem

alright well when i try to kick my vtec in, it doesnt pull at all. you can hear it trying to engage, but doesnt pull like it used to. Also i'm having smoke come out of my exhaust everytime i try to engage it. People were saying that could just be my aftermarket fuel regulator. but idk i get diff. answers all the time. I have oil in the car, and i cleaned the screen out on the solenoid. anybody anthing? thanks.

With a USDM h22 motor, you should be running around 200-220 if healthy.

JDM h22 motors are running at around 210-230 for compression numbers.
