The other day i was driving and i gunned it to see if my car was pulling like it usually does, but once i hit vtec it was twice as loud and it didnt feel like it was pullin as hard as it used to.

What could be the problem? limpmode? what is limpmode exactly?

But as i get around 6500 the sound quiets a bit. I am confused on whats going on.

 

check your vtec selenoid screen. does it cut off at 65? or does it cut in and out ?

1 or more criteria is not being met for vtec to engage correctly and will hault at 65, like a fuel cut off

 

it cuts in and out...

it gets loud as hell when vtec hits and then calms down around 6500...

 

how do you check the screen?

 

yea, check you vtec selenoid screen, might just need a cleaning.

Find someone with a helms manual to post a pic of a vtec selenoid disassembly and cleaning. OR spend the 50 bucks or whatever it is and get one and be a happy camper
